Job Summary
Our nonprofit is seeking dynamic, extroverted, and enthusiastic leaders to facilitate group activities for children ages 3 to 13 in our summer camp.
Our facilitators guide age-based groups of children with and without mild disabilities through physical, creative, and collaborative activities. Facilitators play a pivotal role in cultivating our campers’ self-confidence, resiliency, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
This part-time opportunity is ideally suited for students who aspire to work in a child-related profession. If you enjoy outdoor activities and have a passion for bringing out the best in kids, this position is for you!
Job Type: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: Approximately 15 hours per week for 4 weeks, plus 10-12 hours of training
Hours & Location
- 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
- June 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 and July 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17

Responsibilities and Duties
- Create and execute lesson plans for kids with and without developmental disabilities and behavior challenges
- Foster an open, accepting environment where differences are valued and kids are safe to be themselves
- Set limits, enforce rules and provide consistent feedback, positive reinforcement and social and emotional coaching
- Collaborate with co-facilitators
- Attend professional trainings prior to camp
- Reliable transportation to work
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Friendly, self-confident, positive, enjoys playing games with kids, easily communicates and connects with adults and youth
- Previous experience working with children (i.e., athletic coach, mentor, teacher, child care, camp counselor, lifeguard, etc.)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Physically able to lead groups and participate in games that require running, such as tag, kickball, soccer, etc.
- Maintains a high standard for self, learns quickly, gives 100% to endeavors
- Values feedback and takes direction well
- Organized, independent and able to quickly adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications and Skills (not required)
- Completed or pursuing a degree in a child-related field (social work, psychology, therapy, teaching, etc.)
- Experience coaching kids or as a camp counselor
