Camp Facilitator

About our Camp

Camp Connect Us is different from other traditional day camps in that our niche is socially integrating “typically developing” children with children who have social deficits due to anxiety, extreme shyness, learning, speech and physical delays or other developmental challenges such as high functioning autism, ADHD and related disordersWhether socially gifted or awkward, extremely shy or extroverted, ALL kids benefit from being immersed in collaborative, social learning groups guided by our phenomenal, carefully selected Facilitators!

**Facilitators must be able to work all 3 weeks of camp and attend staff meetings, CPR and training sessions.**

~ Summer Camp Dates: June 27, 2017- July 13, 2017 (8:30 am – 2:30 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays-**exception–camp held on Monday, July 3rd instead of July 4th).

~ In mid-April/May, camp staff is required to attend hands-on training sessions which take place during our year-round after-school and recess facilitation programs

~ Planning meetings, CPR/First Aid Training and Camp Orientation will be held in mid-June.

Lead Facilitator

Qualifications
~ Age 18+
~ Must have previous experience working with youth (i.e., athletic coach, camp counselor, teacher, daycare provider, etc.)
~ High School diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree in social or human service field preferred.
~ Ability to lead a facilitator team and accomplish tasks with little supervision
~ Organized, efficient and able to quickly adapt to changes in a fast-pace environment
~ Ability to easily relate to children and communicate effectively with campers, parents and staff
~ Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in rigorous camp activities and lift up to 50 pounds
~ Must meet state criminal background check requirements
Responsibilities
~ Positive role model for campers and staff, promote respectful, inclusive and cohesive groups and camp environment
~ Coordinate with other facilitator teams to create lesson plans that are based on daily/weekly camp themes
~ Supervise diverse groups of children and serve the needs of individual campers
~ Enthusiastically participate in camp activities
~ Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences
~ Assist in maintaining accurate program records and daily attendance
~ Follow all camper safety and security guidelines and procedures for responding to camper behavior issues
~ Provide consistent feedback, positive reinforcement and social coaching to campers
~ Complete pre and post-program camper Social Aptitude Assessments
~ Willing to step in wherever needed
~ Complete First Aid and CPR certification provided by Connect Us

 

Facilitator-In-Training

 Qualifications
~ Age 16+
~ Must have previous experience working with youth (i.e., athletic coach, camp counselor, babysitter, lifeguard, etc.)
~ Ability to lead diverse groups of children ages 3-12
~ Ability to work on a team as well as accomplish tasks independently
~ Ability to quickly adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment
~ Ability to easily relate to children and communicate effectively with campers, parents and staff
~ Experience coaching groups of children and personal experience in team sports is preferred
~ Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in rigorous camp activities and lift up to 50 pounds
~ Must meet state criminal background check requirements
Responsibilities
~ Be a positive role model for campers and staff and foster respectful, inclusive and cohesive groups
~ Assist with preparation, planning, coordinating and implementing lesson plans based on daily/weekly camp themes
~ Assist Lead Facilitator in supervising diverse groups of children and serving the daily needs of individual campers
~ Enthusiastically participate in camp activities
~ Assist in maintaining accurate program records and daily attendance
~ Follow all safety and security guidelines and procedures for responding to camper behavior issues
~ Provide consistent feedback, positive reinforcement and social coaching to campers
~ Complete First Aid and CPR certification provided by Connect Us
